Woman accused of trying to kill ex by shooting him through bedroom window, charges allege

A woman accused of trying to kill her ex-boyfriend by shooting him through the window of his bedroom apartment in Lakewood was arraigned Tuesday.

Prosecutors charged the 20-year-old with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and unlawful gun possession. She pleaded not guilty at arraignment, and bail was set at $1 million.

Charging papers filed in Pierce County Superior Court give this account of what happened:

Police responded to the shooting May 30 in the 4700 block of 121st Street Southwest.

The man was taken to a hospital for a gunshot wound to his leg.

He told police that he had known the woman for a year and a half and had dated her for about two months.

They broke up in mid-April. Then May 28 she went to his apartment and asked for a ride to Everett.

They argued on the way, and she was upset that he didn’t want to resume their relationship. The next night she tried to contact him on social media, and he blocked her.

Just before 2 a.m. May 30, he woke up to knocking on his bedroom window. The woman was outside and yelled for him to open it. He said he wouldn’t and told her to go away.

She kept yelling, and he opened the window to try to keep her from waking neighbors.

That’s when she pointed a gun at his face, and he tried to dive out of the way.

She fired, and one of the shots hit his leg, fracturing his tibia.

Neighbors thought they heard five shots.

A warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest, and she was booked into the Pierce County Jail on Monday.
