Man killed after truck hit fence, mailboxes in Pierce County neighborhood

A man died early Tuesday after his truck struck a fence and several mailboxes in the Summit area, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, believed to be in his 50s, has not been identified.

Deputies said the man might have suffered from a medical issue just before the crash, which occurred just after 4 a.m. at Canyon Road and 103rd Street East.

He died after being transported from the scene.

No one else was injured.
