Woman attacked from behind, beaten in Point Defiance Park, police say

A 64-year-old woman was attacked in along Five Mile Drive in Point Defiance Park on Thursday afternoon.

The victim was approached from behind about 2:45 p.m. by someone who hit her several times in the head with a blunt object before running away, police spokesperson Wendy Haddow said. The incident took place near the 3.5 mile marker.

The attacker is described as a white male, 5-foot-8 in his 20s with a slim build. He was clean-shaven and wearing a light baseball cap, white t-shirt, black pants and black shoes.

The victim, who suffered lacerations, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

No one has been arrested. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

“We’re hoping someone saw something and didn’t realize it,” Haddow said.
