2 teens killed, 2 injured when car hits ditch and rolls in Puyallup

Two teenagers were killed early Friday after being thrown from the car they were riding in when the vehicle went airborne, struck a ditch and rolled, Puyallup police said.

The boys, ages 16 and 17, have not been publicly identified.

Officers were called about 3:30 a.m. to the crash, which occurred in the 2600 block of 31st Avenue SW.

They determined the teenagers were speeding east when the driver, a 15-year-old girl, went airborne near the intersection of 31st Avenue SW and South Fruitland.

When the vehicle landed, it hit a ditch and the impact caused the car to roll.

Both backseat passengers were ejected from the vehicle.

The 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

The driver and a 15-year-old boy in the front seat were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said intoxication and speeding appear to have caused the crash.
