2 teens killed in rollover crash in Puyallup are identified

Two teenagers killed last week when the car they were riding in struck a ditch and rolled in Puyallup have been identified.

Yarey Ibanez-Aguilar and Carlos Vargas-Dopson, both 17 and from Tacoma, were in the backseat of a vehicle driven by a 15-year-old girl.

They were traveling in the 2600 block of 31st Avenue SW about 3:30 a.m. Friday when the car went airborne near the intersection with South Fruitland.

When the vehicle landed, it hit a ditch and the impact caused the car to roll.

Both Ibanez-Aguilar and Vargas-Dopson were thrown from the vehicle and died of their injuries.

The driver and a 15-year-old boy in the front seat suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police said intoxication and speeding appear to have caused the crash.
