Fire at middle school in Bonney Lake being investigated as potential arson
Bonney Lake police say a fire at a Mountain View Middle School construction shack might be arson.
At 10:19 p.m. Friday night, East Pierce County Fire & Rescue responded to a fully involved fire at 10921 199th Ave Ct East, Fire Chief Bud Backer said.
A construction shack was destroyed by the fire. There was heavy damage to a bulldozer, and a water truck had minor damage. They were on campus to replace the athletic field, Backer said.
The fire initially was believed to have been caused by fireworks set off nearby, but evidence found at the scene led fire investigators and police to open an arson investigation.
The estimated value of the loss is unknown.
