Elderly woman raped in home in Tacoma’s North End. Police seek leads

Tacoma Police Department is asking the public for help locating a man suspected of home invasion and rape.

On the evening of July 12, a man entered a home near North 31 Street and North Orchard Street through an unsecured door, police said this week in a news release.

According to police, the man raped an elderly woman inside the home.

The man is described as white, in his late 20’s to early 30’s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build. Police say he had blemished skin above his right eyebrow that looked as if he had been picking at it. He was carrying a black backpack with a bottle of vodka inside. Police say they believe the man arrived on foot.

Police are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact them at 253-798-4721.
