Woman killed by husband in University Place home is identified

A 74-year-old University Place woman believed to have been killed by her husband Monday has been identified.

Ella Flora’s husband walked into a hospital about 1 p.m. and mentioned “a conflict with his wife,” Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

That prompted deputies to do a welfare check on Flora at the couple’s home in the 5600 block of 61st Avenue West.

Flora was pronounced dead at the scene.

She died of a blunt force head injury, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Her 78-year-old husband was taken into custody. Prosecutors are expected to make a charging decision this week.

A motive or details about what led up to the homicide have not been released.
