Missing woman whose car was set on fire in Tacoma has been found dead

A missing woman whose car was found engulfed in flames in downtown Tacoma has been found dead, Tacoma police announced Tuesday.

Diana Davis, 50, was last seen July 27 tending her vegetables at a community garden in the Proctor district.

A loved one requested a welfare check later that day but police found nobody at her Auburn home.

Two days later, Davis’ Chevy Impala was found on fire in the 1600 block of Court E.

Tacoma police considered her disappearance suspicious and have been searching for her since then.

On Aug. 5, King County sheriff’s deputies found a woman’s body near Snoqualmie Pass.

The woman has been identified as Davis.

“We’re investigating this case as a homicide,” Tacoma police spokeswoman Wendy Haddow said.

It was not immediately known how Davis was killed.

“She is the type of person who came into a room and made everybody laugh,” her daughter, Christina Famasa, told KIRO-TV.
