Tacoma teen charged with possession of an explosive device in Capitol Hill protests
A 19-year-old Tacoma man was charged Friday with allegedly having a homemade molotov cocktail at protests in Seattle.
Sami C. Horner attended a Capitol Hill protest on Aug. 26 with an improvised explosive device, the Department of Justice said in a news release.
Horner was in the group of people that assembled at Volunteer Park, according to the criminal complaint submitted in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington case.
He was seen smashing windows at a bank branch, the news release said. Horner was chased down and arrested. Police allegedly found a glass bottle with a wick, filled with flammable material, and two lighters.
If found guilty, Horner could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and face up to a $250,000 fine.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Seattle Police Department are investigating the case.
