Graham man dies days after 3-car collision

A 79-year-old man who caused a three-car crash in Graham last week has died, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Lawrence Flanery pulled out of a parking lot about 1:25 p.m. Wednesday and crossed all lanes of traffic on 224th Street East near Meridian East.

Troopers say his 1997 Plymouth Grand struck a vehicle in the northbound lane and another in the southbound lane.

Flanery was taken to an area hospital and has since died.

The northbound driver, a 69-year-old Tumwater woman in a Hyundai Tucson, was injured in the collision. The southbound driver, a 49-year-old Spanaway man, was not injured.

The State Patrol said the crash was caused by Flanery’s failure to yield.
