Officials identified 2 men killed when speeding driver hit car parked in Tacoma driveway

Two men killed when a speeding driver struck two parked cars in a Tacoma driveway have been identified.

Police say Jose Ramirez Ochoa, 47, was driving erratically Aug. 20.

He first rear-ended a vehicle near South 80th and South Hosmer streets then fled, eventually hitting a traffic circle while heading southbound on South Park Avenue.

The impact sent his car careening into a driveway, where it struck two parked cars.

One of those vehicles was occupied by Franklin Culver III, 28, who was visiting his family.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Ramirez Ochoa’s vehicle was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and is expected to survive.
