Hit-and-run leaves woman dead on State Route 512 near Steele Street

A 39-year-old Hoquiam woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by two vehicles on State Route 512, just west of Steele Sreet, just after 11 p.m. on Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The victim’s name has not been made public.

The woman was running eastbound on the westbound portion of the highway, according to troopers.

Both vehicles fled the scene. The roadway was blocked for two-and-a-half hours.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the death, and the official cause of death is pending investigation.
