Man shot on Tacoma street, suspected gunman arrested after foot chase
A 32-year-old man was shot and injured in Tacoma Wednesday night, police said.
He was standing next to a vehicle in the 8700 block of South Hosmer Street when the suspected shooter approached him and a witness about 8:30 p.m.
“He approached them and didn’t like their response,” police spokeswoman Wendy Haddow said.
Detectives are investigating whether the men knew each other, and why the gunman approached the victim.
The suspect shot the man, then fled in a car.
Officers were able to find the suspect’s vehicle and follow him until he crashed into a chain link fence at South 35th and South Alaska streets and fled on foot.
The 47-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and felony eluding.
The victim was taken to an area hospital and was listed in serious but stable condition.
One officer injured his hand during the arrest, Haddow said.
