Man killed in one-car crash in Tacoma

A man was killed early Friday after crashing on a Tacoma street, police said.

The driver was traveling west on South 96th Street just before 6 a.m. when he tried to swerve around a vehicle crossing South Hosmer Street, police spokeswoman Wendy Haddow said.

The man lost control and crashed at South 96th Street and South Steele Street.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet identified the man.
