Man killed after losing control of car in Tacoma has been identified

A man who died Friday after losing control of his vehicle in Tacoma and crashing has been identified.

Police say Javier Duran Acosta, 32, of Federal Way, was traveling west on South 96th Street just before 6 a.m. when he lost control of his 1997 Jaguar XJ6 near South Steele Street.

Speed is believed to be the cause of the crash.

At least one witness reported seeing Acosta’s car pass her on the road shortly before he crashed.

No one else as injured in the incident.
