3 shot at beach party in Northeast Tacoma

Three people were shot early Wednesday after an argument broke out at a beach party in Northeast Tacoma.

One man suffered life-threatening injuries.

Another man and a woman suffered gunshot wounds to the legs and were taken to local hospitals.

Police were called about 1 a.m. to the area of state Route 509 and Norpoint Way Northeast after people called 911 to report hearing gunshots.

“Two people there got into an argument and started shooting at each other,” police spokeswoman Wendy Haddow said.

The woman was shot because she was standing nearby.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses and looking into what prompted the argument.
