Woman killed by SUV on Frederickson road is identified
A woman who died Friday after being struck by an SUV as she pushed a shopping cart on a Frederickson road has been identified.
Evelyn Dorothy McMillen, 53, was walking during a rainstorm in the 19000 block of 78th Avenue East when she was hit about 9:35 p.m.
A driver in a GMC Yukon was traveling north on 78th Avenue when he saw something in the road and tried to swerve around it but was unable to because a southbound vehicle was approaching, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
McMillen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with deputies, who said the driver was not impaired.
