Hit-and-run driver killed man walking from birthday party near Orting

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding a hit-and-run driver who killed a man walking near Orting last weekend.

The name of the 34-year-old victim has not been publicly released.

He attended a birthday party Saturday night and left on foot shortly after 10 p.m., according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

About a half hour later, a passerby called 911 to report a man’s body lying in the 28200 block of Orville Road East in the Electron area.

Deputies responded and found the man, who had been struck by a vehicle.

Nobody appears to have witnessed the hit-and-run, and the driver did not remain on scene.

Detectives are asking residents along the south end of Orville Road from Kapowsin to 264th Street East to check their home security systems for any images of the victim or suspicious vehicles from 10 p.m. to 10:40 p.m. Saturday.
