Driver killed after crashing into power pole in Tacoma

A 65-year-old man died Thursday after his vehicle crashed into a power pole in Tacoma, police said.

The name of the driver has not been publicly released.

It was about 11 p.m. when the man lost control of his car while traveling south in the 2800 block of Pacific Avenue, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the pole.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately known what caused him to lose control of the vehicle, but investigators say speed appeared to be a factor.
