Deputies investigating homicide after woman found shot in Spanaway

Deputies are investigating after a woman was found shot Tuesday evening in Spanaway. Officials said they are seeking witnesses to the shooting.

Deputies from Pierce County Sheriff’s Department were called about 9:50 p.m. for a report of a woman found lying near the side of the road on 208th Street East near Mountain Highway.

When deputies arrived, they found that the woman had at least one gunshot wound, according to a post from the sheriff’s department’s Facebook page. The woman was declared dead at the scene.

Detectives determined that the woman was involved in a confrontation with a suspect wearing a hoodie between 9:20 and 9:30 p.m., according to the post. Detectives believe the confrontation happened either in the road or alongside the road where a vehicle was parked.

At least two cars passed by during the altercation, according to the post. Detectives asked anyone who witnessed part of the altercation to call 253-287-455.
