Man killed in hit-and-run on Portland Avenue in Tacoma
A man was killed in a hit-and-run traffic collision Monday night in Tacoma. Police said the driver who struck the victim’s car was in a stolen vehicle.
The crash occurred at about 10:20 p.m. on Portland Avenue between East 43rd and East 48th streets. That section of road was shut down while police responded, according to a tweet from Tacoma Police Department.
A 24-year-old man was killed in a collision with a truck. Witnesses told police the driver of the truck left the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
It’s not clear how the crash occurred. Police said the truck that struck the victim’s car was reported stolen last month in Tacoma.
The Collision Investigation Team responded to the crash. The roadway was back open by about 2:15 a.m.
