Man found shot to death in front yard of Spanaway home is identified

A man found fatally shot Monday night in the front yard of a home in Spanaway has been identified by the Pierce County medical examiner.

Denerio Ferguson, 29, died of multiple gunshot wounds near the 200 block of 165th Street South, the Medical Examiner’s Office said in a news release. The office ruled Ferguson’s death a homicide.

The medical examiner did not list a home address for Ferguson in the release.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the shooting at about 8:30 p.m. Deputies found Ferguson down in the front yard of a home. He was treated by medics, but he died at the scene.

Deputies arrested a 31-year-old suspect Tuesday morning and booked him into jail for investigation of first-degree murder.
