3-year-old child fatally shot at Puyallup-area home

A 3-year-old child was shot and killed at a Puyallup-area home on Monday evening, Pierce County deputies said.

Emergency crews responded about 4 p.m. to a house near Milwaukee Avenue East and 58th Street Court East, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Darren Moss said. He said deputies and fire crews responded after a 911 caller reported a child had been injured.

Inside the home, deputies found a child with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, where he died of his injuries several hours later.

Deputies are investigating what led to the fatal shooting. Other firearms were found inside the home. Further details were not immediately available.
