Officials identify 14-year-old fatally shot in Tacoma

A teenager fatally shot Sunday evening in Tacoma was identified Thursday by the Pierce County medical examiner.

Thiy Conway, 14, died of a gunshot wound to the chest in the 9100 block of South Alaska Street, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a news release. Conway was a Tacoma resident. The office ruled his death a homicide.

The shooting was reported about 9:15 p.m. Sunday. At the scene, Tacoma Police Department officers found Conway unresponsive in the street. CPR was started and he was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Conway’s death was one of two fatal shootings in Tacoma overnight Sunday and early Monday morning.

Police are continuing to investigate what led up to the shootings. Conway’s death was the 29th homicide in the city this year.
