Car crashes through windows of Lakewood restaurant, driver leaves scene

A car crashed into a Lakewood restaurant early Monday morning, police said. The car’s back wheels and trunk were hanging out a window facing the parking lot.

The car crashed into the Sizzler restaurant in the 10200 block of South Tacoma Way. Lakewood Police Department tweeted about the incident just before 3:50 a.m. No one was in the restaurant when the crash occurred.

“It’s definitely not how I wanted to start my morning,” manager Jennifer Alley said.

Alley said she got a call about the crash at around 2:45 a.m. She was at the restaurant early Monday morning with staff while they dealt with damage to the front of the building. Alley said there could be more damage, and the restaurant is closed Monday while they work through it.

When police and other first responders arrived, the car was found unoccupied. Police said witnesses reported seeing the car’s occupants walking away from the crashed car.

Police are investigating the incident as a single vehicle hit-and-run collision.
