Man dropped off at Tacoma hospital with traumatic injury dies; police investigating

Tacoma police are investigating a homicide Monday after a man was dropped off at a local hospital with a traumatic injury and died.

Officers from Tacoma Police Department responded to the hospital at about 10 a.m. Few details were immediately available. The victim has not been identified.

Police initially reported the man was dropped off at the hospital with a gunshot wound, but further investigation found the man may have been injured by other means.

Police said they believe the man was hurt in the 8800 block of South Hosmer Street in the city’s South End. Detectives and crime scene technicians were on the scene Monday between two motels in that area.

Department spokesperson Wendy Haddow said police still weren’t sure whether the incident occurred outside or inside a motel. Police said they aren’t searching for the person who dropped the victim off at the hospital.
