Spanaway man arrested in shooting death of plumber he’d called to his home, deputies say
A 55-year-old man was arrested Monday night for fatally shooting a plumber he’d called to his home, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported.
South Sound 911 received a call at 8:09 p.m. in regards to shots fired at a home in the 1000 block of Military Road East in Spanaway.
According to a news release, the caller reported seeing a body in a truck that was in front of the home.
Deputies discovered a man who had sustained a gunshot wound while in the truck. The 40-year-old man was given aid on the scene but later pronounced dead.
The suspect, who owns the home, surrendered to deputies.
According to the news release, detectives discovered that the situation started when the plumber arrived at the house and was accused by the homeowner of hitting his gate.
According to the report, the suspect shot the victim in the driver’s seat of the truck and then asked his neighbor to hold onto his guns. Deputies later recovered six firearms from the neighbor’s home.
The suspect was booked into Pierce County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence.
