The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday identified a man who died Monday night in a crash near Lake Tapps as a 19-year-old Bonney Lake resident.
The man, Thomas Randall Jr., died at the scene of the 6:15 p.m. crash in the 6400 block of 218th Avenue East, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
Initial reports were that two cars were involved, but Troyer said Tuesday it was a 3-car accident.
Randall was passenger in a 1994 Acura involved in the wreck. He was wearing a seat belt and the airbag deployed, Troyer said. A 20-year-old man was driving the car, and had two passengers, including Randall.

A 1991 Acura and a Chevrolet Impala were the other cars in the crash.
Troyer said all the drivers were taken to the hospital.
Crews took one person in critical condition and two in stable condition to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. A fourth person went to Tacoma General Hospital in serious condition, according to the East Pierce firefighters union, IAFF Local 3520.
Seven people total were involved in the wreck, Troyer said, adding that some still being treated at local hospitals were in serious condition Tuesday.
Investigators had not determined what caused the crash, and Troyer had no further details about what happened.
He said it didn’t appear alcohol was involved.
