Driver flees after pricey McLaren sports car collides with guardrail in Tacoma

The driver of an expensive British sports car fled the scene of a collision Monday night in Tacoma when the vehicle struck a guardrail on eastbound state Route 512, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The collision occurred on the exit-ramp to Portland Avenue, Trooper Robert Reyer said on Twitter. A photo shared from the scene showed a 2020 McLaren 600LT lodged under a guardrail, with its driver-side butterfly door open. According to Car and Driver, the vehicle’s price starts at $259,000.

Troopers said it’s not known if anyone was injured in the collision because the driver left before they arrived. What caused the crash is unclear.

According to the manufacturer’s website, the McLaren 600 LT has 592 horse power and can reach a top speed of 204 mph.
