Man fatally shot in Central Tacoma homicide is identified by medical examiner
A man who was shot and killed last week in Tacoma was identified Tuesday by the medical examiner.
Nicholaus Ahlstrand, 44 of Tacoma, died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to a news release from the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office. The shooting occurred Aug. 24 near the 3600 block of South 31st Street, about a block south of state Route 16 in Central Tacoma.
Tacoma Police Department is investigating the man’s death as a homicide, the 31st to occur in the city this year. Police responded just after 6:30 p.m. when multiple 911 callers reported a possible shooting in the area, according to a press release. Officers found a man bleeding from a gunshot wound.
Police said they provided first aid, but Ahlstrand was declared dead at the scene by Tacoma Fire Department personnel.
On Tuesday, police spokesperson Wendy Haddow said no arrests have been made in connection to the killing. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
