Tacoma police investigating homicide after man found dead with gunshot wound

A 29-year-old man was found dead Thursday morning in some bushes along a residential street in Tacoma’s Eastside neighborhood, according to police. Officers said he appeared to have a gunshot wound.

Tacoma Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide. The victim has not been identified, and the circumstances of his death are not yet clear.

Tacoma firefighters responded at 7:44 a.m. to the 2000 block of East Wright Avenue, according to a news release. Responders determined the man was dead and called for police. Nearby residents told officers that gunshots had been heard at about 3 a.m., but 911 was not called.

Detectives and crime scene technicians were called to the scene. The killing is the 32nd homicide to occur in the city this year. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
