Troopers seek help locating gunman who shot at, followed driver near SR-7 in Spanaway
A motorist driving north Wednesday afternoon on state Route 7 in Spanaway was shot at multiple times, according to the Washington State Patrol. The victim’s vehicle was struck twice, but no one was injured.
Troopers are now seeking help from the public to locate the gunman and the vehicle he was driving, the state police agency said in a news release. The shooting occurred about 1:45 p.m. near state Route 7 and Cross-Base Highway.
A driver in an Dodge Charger was stopped on the Route 7, waiting to turn left onto Cross-Base Highway when the driver of a silver Audi sedan pulled beside the Dodge’s passenger side and fired multiple gunshots. Troopers said the Dodge driver accelerated and turned onto the highway toward Spanaway Loop Road South, but the Audi driver followed.
The gunman fired more shots at the Dodge, striking its passenger side twice before continuing west toward Spanaway Loop Road South, troopers said.
Witnesses described the Audi driver as a white man with facial scars and dark hair. A passenger was in the car with him, and she was described as a white woman with red and yellow hair. It’s unclear what the exact model of the Audi was or what its license plate number is, but troopers said the car had Washington plates containing the letter “Q.”
Anyone with additional information about the incident was asked to contact detective Travis Calton at 360-918-4032.
