Fire burns several acres by Carbon River

A fire is burning between two and four acres by the Carbon River south of 177th Street East, according to Orting Valley Fire and Rescue.

The blaze isn’t moving, and is not threatening homes, firefighters said about 1:45 p.m. Thursday.

Hand crews and helicopters with the state Department of Natural Resources are fighting the flames, which are in an area that’s hard to reach.

Orting said it didn’t have any firefighters there.

Questions about the blaze, called the Sierra fire, can be directed to DNR at 360-825-1631.
