Tacoma police found armed robbery suspect within an hour. He parked blocks away

Tacoma police arrested an armed robbery suspect in the city’s South End less than an hour after the alleged crime with the help of surveillance footage Monday.

Officers responded to the Walgreens at 8405 Pacific Ave. just before 9:30 a.m. for a report someone implied they had a weapon and robbed a register, according to department spokesperson Wendy Haddow. No injuries were reported.

Surveillance video led police to the suspect in a car parked a few blocks away. Haddow said he was in custody at 10:07 a.m. and officers seized the vehicle to search for a weapon.

Officers booked the 33-year-old man into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery, according to the Police Department.
