Missing Tacoma woman found dead in car
The body of a 25-year-old Tacoma woman who went missing over the weekend was found Thursday in her car.
Danielle Elise McGowan’s friends and family were concerned after she drove toward downtown about 2:30 a.m. Saturday and didn’t return home. She was last seen talking to a friend outside her North Tacoma home.
After days with no word, fliers were distributed and police released a description of McGowan and her Mazda 6. A passerby spotted the car Thursday night in a parking lot at Sixth Avenue and North Stevens Street and called 911.
Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said foul play was not suspected in McGowan’s death.
A cause of death had not been determined. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
McGowan’s family said they were devastated over her death and asked people to take down fliers around town.
“We know that she is at peace, which is a comfort as we begin the journey of grieving her death and figuring out how to live without her; but we are stunned and emotionally reeling,” they wrote on the Bring Home Danielle Facebook page.
