Two hit-and-runs occurred hours apart in Tacoma’s South End on Saturday, police say.

A vehicle hit a man on Hosmer Street around 11:28 a.m. and left the scene.

No dispatch call was made to the Tacoma Police Department because an officer on routine patrol was the first on the scene. The officer found the victim on the ground where he fell after being hit, police said.

Police took accounts from witnesses, but a spokesperson declined to divulge details Monday because the investigation was ongoing.

Tacoma firefighters transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim sustained no serious injuries or broken bones. Detectives will be contacting local business owners to obtain any surveillance video that might have captured the incident, police said..

The second hit-and-run occurred about 6:08 p.m. when a 13-year-old boy was trying to cross Pacific Avenue with a group of children, police said. One of the kids activated the crosswalk light, but the boy was hit near South 86th Street when a car stopped at a red light veered around the car in front of it, police said. After momentarily stopping, the driver fled north on Pacific Avenue.

The 13-year-old was transported to a local hospital with injuries not considered life threatening, police said.

No other information was immediately released.
