Shooting at Lakewood park injures one person, sends others fleeing in fear, police say
A young man was injured in a shooting that sent people fleeing from American Lake Park in Lakewood, police said.
When police arrived about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, they saw people running and yelling about a shooting, Lakewood police Lt. Chris Westby said in an email. Officers found spent shell casings and blood at the park.
A young man was found at a nearby deli with a gunshot wound to the leg; he was driven away from the scene by a family member, Westby said. He was taken to Madigan Army Hospital and is now in a stable condition.
American Lake Park did not close after the shooting as it was near closing when it happened, said Brynn Grimley, City of Lakewood spokesperson.
No one has been arrested.
