Pierce County deputies search for hit-and-run driver; victim reportedly on life support

Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a driver involved in a critical hit and run early Sunday morning.

The person allegedly hit a 27-year-old man who was riding his skateboard north in the 15700 block of Waller Road at about 2:43 a.m. The car that hit the man also was traveling north. The driver fled, the sheriff’s department wrote in a Facebook post Monday.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is on life support. He is not expected to survive, the post read.

Parts of the car were left behind, and traffic investigators were able to determine that the person was driving a Ford sedan.

Investigators ask that anyone who lives in the area to check their surveillance cameras for the hours of 2:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. to see if they recorded any cars driving past, the post read.

The name of the victim was not identified in the post.
