Deputies say a bicyclist might have been targeted in a fatal hit and run near Tacoma
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is searching for surveillance footage from a hit and run in Tacoma that killed a bicyclist on Monday morning, Sept. 25.
According to a news release, the Sheriff’s Department received a report about 7:50 a.m. of a collision involving a car and bicyclist in the 11000 block of Waller Road East. Deputies and fire crews found the bicyclist on the side of the road. He did not survive his injuries.
Detectives believe the bicyclist might have been intentionally struck by the car, the release said.
The release said that detectives are seeking video footage from people who live or work on Waller Road East, between 128th Street East and 72nd Street, or on 112th Street East. This is between Vickery Avenue East and Golden Given Road East. Detectives would like video footage of passing vehicles between 7:30 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. They are also interested in dash-camera video.
The release said they do not have a detailed description of the suspect’s car. Video footage can be submitted at https://piercecso.evidence.com/.../public/hitandrunhomicide.
Update 9/26: Detectives have located video of the suspect’s car, which is a 2000-2006 Gold/Beige Chevy Tahoe with possible front end damage. The public is advised to call 911 if they know where detectives can find the car or suspect.
