Shooting leaves one man dead in Tacoma, police say

A homicide investigation was underway in a Tacoma residential area Tuesday afternoon.

Tacoma Police Department said on X at 1:57 p.m. that officers responded to a suspected homicide in the 3500 block of South Ainsworth.

Detective William Muse told the News Tribune that there is one victim.

There was no immediate information on a suspect. Crime-scene technicians are on the way to the scene, and people should avoid the area, he said.

Updated 3:35 p.m.: According to a news release, there were reports of a possible shooting about 1 p.m. A man appears to have suffered a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were performed, but police said the man died at the scene.

The age of the victim was not released, nor any information on the suspect.
