Fife police seize cache of weapons after receiving tip. Convicted felon faces charges
Multiple stolen firearms, machine guns, ammunition magazines and other items were recovered by Fife Police Department officers in early October.
The items were recovered after a witness reported suspicious behavior by a man, Fife Police Department said on X.
Fife police followed up and found the suspect was a convicted felon. Through a search warrant, police found more weapons and items in the suspect’s car, a Fife Police Department spokesperson told The News Tribune on Thursday.
Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office charged the 39-year-old man on Oct. 5 for six counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a machine gun and possessing an explosive device. A plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf at his arraignment. A Pierce County Superior Court commissioner set his bail at $150,000.
Charging documents said the man was at an auto glass shop so he could get the rear glass of his Mazda 3 replaced. An employee of the shop reported to police there were firearms in the car and bullet holes that appeared to have been fired from inside the Mazda.
