Man found dead with a gunshot wound, Pierce deputies say. Homicide investigation underway
A man was found dead in a Parkland home over the weekend, and Pierce County deputies are investigating the case as a homicide.
The 53-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head on Saturday in the 12900 block of Park Avenue South. Central Pierce firefighters were dispatched for a person down with no pulse. When they rolled the man over, they discovered a gunshot wound and called deputies to the home at 1:23 p.m., according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department in a news release.
Sgt. Darren Moss, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department, said the incident was declared a homicide because no gun was found at the scene.
There are no suspects in custody, and the incident is under investigation. The man was renting a room at his friend’s parent’s home. The owner of the house, an 81-year-old man, was the one to discover the deceased man, Moss said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department or can make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
