Gig Harbor man dies in car crash on Key Peninsula
A 48-year-old Gig Harbor man died late Tuesday after driving off the road on the Key Peninsula.
Michael Adamson was driving home when his SUV veered off the road in the 14100 block of 118th Avenue Northwest and hit a tree about 11:45 p.m., Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
Adamson, who was not wearing a seat belt, had to be extricated from the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene, just west of Purdy.
Investigators were unsure why the SUV drifted off the road. There were no skid marks or indications that he tried to slow down.
An autopsy is pending, but detectives believe Adamson might have suffered from a medical issue while behind the wheel.
