WA troopers ask for help identifying driver that caused five-vehicle wreck near Lacey
Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses to a hit-and-run collision that triggered a five-car wreck on Interstate 5 near Lacey earlier this week.
The collision occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Monday, injured one person and blocked traffic for about three hours in both directions of the freeway.
Investigators have been unable to identify the driver of a silver SUV or pickup truck that caused the collision, according to a WSP news release.
The silver vehicle reportedly was traveling south on I-5 near Marvin Road when it changed lanes and struck a gray Chrysler, which in turn struck another southbound pickup truck. WSP says the driver of the Chrysler lost control, crossed the median and crashed into two northbound vehicles.
The driver of the silver vehicle continued driving south after causing the crash, according to WSP. The driver now faces felony hit-and-run charges.
A 41-year-old Tacoma driver was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, the memo says. She reportedly did not wear seatbelt. The release says she suffered facial lacerations.
The drivers of the other vehicles included a 27-year-old Tacoma man, a 70-year-old Indiana man and 71-year-old Enumclaw man. They each wore seatbelts and were not injured in the crash, WSP says.
