A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot multiple times in Tacoma early Thursday morning.

The teenager was shot in the leg and face at about 12:10 a.m. in the 4400 block of East Portland Avenue. A witness told police that two people approached the teenager. They shot him multiple times then fled in a vehicle, according to Tacoma Police Department spokesman detective William Muse.

The teenager was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma with life-threatening injuries. He eventually will be moved to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

There are no suspects in custody and no confirmed information on the suspects’ description, Muse said.
