Man chased by Federal Way police hurt jumping out third-story window
Federal Way police said a 34-year-old felon led officers on a pursuit Thursday, knocked out power to thousands after crashing into a power pole and seriously injured himself after leaping from a third-story apartment window.
Jason Miller initially sped away from Des Moines police, who tried to pull him over about 9:45 p.m. Officers there radioed ahead to alert Federal Way police.
An officer spotted Miller, who has a warrant for his arrest issued by the state Department of Corrections, traveling south on 18th Avenue South and tried to stop him near Pacific Highway South.
Miller refused to stop and hit a utility pole in the 35200 block of 21st Avenue Southwest.
He then ran into the West Point apartments. As officers searched the complex, they heard breaking glass on the east side of the building and found Miller lying on the ground.
He had jumped from a third-story window, seriously injuring himself.
Miller was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The crash into the power pole caused an outage to thousands in the neighborhood.
