Man surrenders to Tacoma police after barricading himself in a home for several hours

A man who barricaded himself inside a Tacoma home after police and SWAT tried to arrest him Wednesday morning has surrendered.

The standoff, which attracted a large law enforcement presence, began at 6 a.m. in the 10400 block of Patterson Street South. The man is suspected of drug offenses and is wanted on several criminal charges. An outside law enforcement agency ordered his arrest, said Tacoma Police Department spokesman detective William Muse.

The man surrendered about 2:30 p.m.

Muse said the man was the only person inside the home.
