Tacoma police help bust illegal marijuana operation allegedly run by Chinese nationals
Multiple Western Washington counties assisted with shutting down a major marijuana grow operation allegedly run by Chinese nationals.
The Tacoma Police Department Special Investigations Division concluded the investigation Wednesday. Offenses investigated included unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent deliver and unlawful use of a building for drug activity, according to the TPD on X.
Police said they seized 3,580 growing marijuana plants, 78 pounds of manufactured product, 12 vehicles, one handgun and U.S. currency.
Search warrants for multiple residences were obtained. Eight warrants were served at locations in King, Mason and Snohomish counties, the post said.
The Tacoma Police Department has not said how many people were arrested during this operation, or if anyone was taken into custody.
“Thanks to Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, WA State Patrol Investigations Division, WA State Liquor and Cannabis Board, WA State Dept. of Ecology, Pierce Co. Sheriff, Lakewood Police Dept, Bothell Police Dept, and the Snohomish Co. Drug Task Force,” the post said.
