Key Peninsula elementary school teacher accused of inappropriate behavior with students
An Evergreen Elementary School teacher is being investigated for alleged misconduct towards students.
The teacher is accused of invading students’ boundaries, concerning verbal statements and potential touching. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave, according to a Peninsula School District news release.
Students reported the allegations on Feb. 26, and an investigation began soon after, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department told The News Tribune on Friday.
The gender and age of the teacher have not been disclosed.
The school said law enforcement will begin reaching out to families of the teacher’s students for forensic interviews.
“If these allegations are found true, they stand in stark opposition to everything we stand for. We are working closely with the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and will act decisively based on their findings,” district superintendent Krestin Bahr said in a statement to Evergreen parents and staff Friday.
The Sheriff’s Department said that the teacher has not been arrested, and that detectives are investigating.
If parents have additional information that might aid the investigation, they can reach out to detective Brendon Ossman at 253-798-4876.
